The Instituto do Coração (InCor) of the Hospital das Clínicas of Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (HCFMUSP) was considered the best cardiology hospital in Brazil and Latin America and the Instiuto do Câncer (ICESP) of HCFMUSP is among the best hospitals in the world specialized in cancer, according to the evaluation of the American magazine Newsweek in partnership with the German company Statista, specialized in market and consumer data.
In the World's Best Specialized Hospital 2021 cardiology list, released on September 23rd, 2020, InCor is among the top 50 in the world, in the 23rd general position - Israeli Albert Einstein, Sírio-Libanês and the Instituto Dante Pazzanese are respectively in 34th, 40th and 43rd place.
The number 1 in the world in the specialty is Cleveland Clinic, from Ohio (USA), followed by two other Americans: Mayo Clinic - Rochester and Brigham and Women's Hospital. The online survey was conducted with about 40 thousand professionals (doctors, health professionals and hospital managers) from over 20 countries.
ICESP is recognized twice for its care, both as an individual hospital and as part of the HCFMUSP Complex. It has more than 10 years of trajectory as a reference in oncology, with exclusive care to the Public Network of the Unified Health System (SUS), offering integral assistance to the patient, formation of highly qualified professionals and researches that enable new approaches in this context. The continuous search for innovation remains among the Institute's purposes in consolidating itself as a national and international reference center in cancer treatment.
The position of the two hospitals in Newsweek's ranking shows the strength of science and centers of excellence in public health in the country as a driving force for innovations for the system.
